What is a Hackathon?

Hackathons typically are 2-day events where participants work in small teams to develop innovative solutions to one or more predefined challenges. Originally, most hackathons were mainly technology focused: participants were mainly computer programmers who came together to build new apps or “hack” open data. Today, there are many different types of hackathons, addressing both technological and social innovation, appealing to people with a variety of different skills including technology, design, entrepreneurship and of course domain knowledge about the specific hackathon theme or challenges.
Taking part in a Hackathon is a very intense, creative and rewarding experience where you learn a lot, make new friends, connect with experts, and most importantly, create a new innovative project that could turn into something very exciting for your career.
